Town of West Hartford
In 2018, Larisa Ortiz Associates (LOA) was hired as a subconsultant by Fitzgerald & Halliday, Inc (FHI) to conduct a retail market assessment for each of the major retail districts in the town of West Hartford. Our findings were used to guide commercial planning goals and priorities in the town’s decennial Plan of Conservation and Development.
Following a physical site assessment and market research, a series of recommendations were put forth leveraging the unique characteristics of six distinct retail districts: The Center/Blue Back Square, Corbin’s Corner, Bishop’s Corner, Elmwood Center, Park Road, and New Park Avenue. The recommendations ranged from small improvements/maintenance of optimally functioning retail areas to larger public and private improvements in struggling and fledgling retail nodes.
LOA’s findings were used to inform planning initiatives in the 2020 Plan of Conservation and Development for West Hartford. LOA also conducted a workshop to share market research and recommendations with local merchants.
